Eat. Sleep. Mountain Bike. Repeat!
The RMTBC is Ruapehu's local mountain biking club that is ran by a small team of local volunteers. Part of the club's duties is looking after and caring for the Uenuku Pines MTB Park and liaising with the Uenuku Iwi and NZ Forest Managers.
Over the past couple of years the club has been working on creating programs and social rides, increase club participation and memberships, and continuously grow the mountain biking trails in the Uenuku Pines MTB Park!
Growing the club
The years of 2020 and 2021 saw a growth of membership and club activity for RMBC. Regular weekly rides for riders of all ages and abilities took off with great turn outs and interest, and we saw people come from all areas of the Ruapehu region to join us every week!
In 2021, our Wednesday Night Social rides became a very popular attraction with numbers continuously growing every week with stoked riders. There was heaps of good times and high fives shared! We also introduced our Women's Social Rides on Wednesday nights which brought together an amazing group of talented females - of all ages and abilities!
Rebuilding after logging
Unfortunately 2021 was also a tough year with tree felling operations in the Waikune Forest which resulted in a large portion of trails being effected. However, the club are always stoked to be out riding their mountain bikes in the Uenuku Pines MTB Park and have been busy with the tidy up process and trail building efforts to create new trails!
The start of 2024
We are also continuing work with updating trail signage around the park for 2024, and we have recently done a big update to trail recordings on Trailforks. Next on the list is to update trails on MTB Project. Both Trailforks and MTB Project provide a great resource for riders to use for reference while riding at Uenuku Pines MTB Park, as well as across New Zealand and internationally!

2023 was a big year!
With wrapping up 2023, we were able to add multiple trails into the network including Boost, Dropper, Waterfall Express, Loose Chain and extension of Rake Head from the top of Boost to the top of Loose Chain. As well to start off 2024, we completed the extension of Bent Spokes and have that riding top to bottom! The new entrance for Bent Spokes is now located at the bottom of Crank.
